Sofia Fenichell

Founder, CEO & CPO of Study Hall

Formerly the Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Mrs Wordsmith. the award-winning literacy company for K-8 (Reception to Y8), Sofia has designed, developed, edited, co-authored and worked with educators and academics globally to develop over 20 books, games, apps and white papers on the science of reading for Mrs Wordsmith. Sofia sits on the Advisory Board of Common Sense Media, was shortlisted as GP Bullhound Entrepreneur of the Year and is a 2x Edtech Cool Tool Finalist. She attended Northwestern University and has an MBA from Columbia business school. Sofia’s life mission is to solve for engagement in education. A self-taught AI/NLG product designer by reading 1000s of pages of research at her kitchen table, she knows first hand that anyone can learn anything when they are engaged and motivated, and practice deep reading.

Jocelyn Spielberger

Senior Marketing Leader

With over 20 years of experience across K–12 and higher education, Jocelyn Spielberger has shaped learning tools and partnerships at both large education companies, including McGraw-Hill, and fast-growing startups. Her work spans large-scale implementations with universities, districts, and content partners, always grounded in the needs of educators and students. She holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Education from NYU’s Steinhardt School, with a focus on Education, Communication, and Technology. As a parent of two high school students and a volunteer tutor, she brings firsthand perspective on student learning.

Donna Matovinovic

Brings 30 years of experience designing high-quality curricula and assessments for over 30 US states and 10 countries. A former Senior Vice President at ACT, Donna has successfully implemented automatic item generation at scale and is a leading expert in mathematics education.

Patrick Derham

Patrick is one of the UK’s most highly regarded educationalists having served as Head Master of Westminster School (2014-20), Rugby School (2001-14) and Solihull School (1996-2001). Passionate about widening access, Patrick set up the Arnold Foundation for Rugby School in 2003, which provides a boarding education at Rugby to disadvantaged children and was instrumental in setting up the SpringBoard Bursary Foundation, a new national charity closely modelled on the Arnold Foundation. Patrick chairs the Board of Trustees of Gladstone's Library, the UK’s only Prime Ministerial Library, and is involved in a wide range of charities. In 2018, Patrick was awarded an OBE for his services in education.

Greg Watson

Greg Watson served as CEO of GL Assessments from 2013 to 2023, leading it to become a global provider of assessments for schools in over 100 countries, and facilitating its sale to Renaissance, a leading US Edtech. Prior to GL Education, Watson was CEO of Bell (the English language education provider) and OCR (the major UK public exam board), and held executive roles at Cambridge Assessment. He is recognized for strategic leadership, product innovation, and his work building partnerships in education and technology globally.

Jonnie Noakes

Jonnie Noakes is Director of Teaching and Learning and Director of the Tony Little Centre for Innovation and Research in Learning at Eton College. He leads Eton’s work on pedagogical excellence, evidence‑informed practice and innovation, and is a recognised expert in character education and emotional intelligence. A former Head of English and boarding House Master, he has published numerous critical texts on contemporary novels and works widely with partners across the state and independent sectors on the future of teaching, learning and assessment.

Matthew Simpson

Vice President of Artificial Intelligence

Matthew Simpson is a machine learning researcher and AI leader. He holds an MPhil in Advanced Computer Science (ML/AI Track) from the University of Cambridge and a BSc in Computer Science from the University of St Andrews, where he also worked as a Research Assistant on human-centered technology projects. His experience includes leading applied machine learning initiatives at Opera, combining cutting-edge research with the delivery of practical, real-world AI systems.

George Georgaras

Senior Software Engineer

With a stellar career spanning over a decade, George “TechMaestro” Georgaras has been a force to be reckoned with in the software development and DevOps realm. He has unleashed his tech wizardry at renowned companies, including Intralot, where he wielded his magic with React-Native, NestJS, Next.js, Kubernetes, Ansible, YAML, and React.js.But that’s not all. George also played a pivotal role as the CTO/Application Architect at myTQ, a thrilling startup that delved into the exciting world of shared economy solutions.Armed with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Portsmouth, he is a master of his craft. George’s infectious energy, boundless creativity, and knack for problem-solving have made him a beloved figure in the industry. He’s not just a tech guru; he’s a tech rockstar! Eno Cenmurati

Data Engineer

Eno is a Data Engineer at College CoPilot, where he focuses on ensuring data is accurate, reliable, and delivered seamlessly across the organisation’s platforms and services. He manages and serves data from PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases and maintains FastAPI endpoints that provide high-quality data to downstream systems directly supporting student outcomes. Alongside his core data engineering responsibilities, Eno has a strong interest in AI and machine learning. Throughout his career, he has worked on projects involving machine learning models, image processing, and the deployment of local large language models to support data validation, automation, and internal tooling. His experience spans building and maintaining ELT/ETL pipelines, working with cloud data warehouses, integrating with third-party APIs, and developing microservices using Python and Docker. Eno is particularly motivated by using technology and AI to benefit people and society, especially in educational settings where better data and smarter systems can make a meaningful difference to children’s learning and future opportunities.

Joshua Lilley

AI Engineer

Joshua has 5+ years of experience building practical machine learning systems in Python, spanning classical ML methods, deep learning models, and foundation-model agent pipelines. At StudyHall, he designs and ships agentic AI products - assistants, large-scale generation workflows, and the orchestration and evaluation layers that make them reliable in production. He has also co-authored published research on in-network machine learning for high-frequency stock trading, analysing large NASDAQ datasets and evaluating algorithms in a real-market setting. Joshua holds an MEng in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, where his thesis focused on unsupervised domain generalisation for medical image segmentation. Joshua is passionate about building clever, safe, dependable ML systems - and has strong opinions about the phrase "edge case".

Tomas Prokipcak

AI Developer

Tomas is a Master’s graduate in Computer Science from the University of St Andrews. His undergraduate dissertation explored the use of neural networks to predict lung cancer in patients based on lifestyle choices and habits. His postgraduate thesis focused on data linkage using machine learning, investigating the possibility of linking individuals across a wider population using government documents such as birth, death, and marriage certificates. He also has experience working at NHS Fife, where he designed a viral disease outbreak prediction system based on historical data. In addition, he has worked on developing a speech-to-speech translation system that preserves the target speaker’s voice characteristics.

Keenan Gividen

Technology Chief-of-Staff

Keenan’s career spans three and a half decades in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics and Information Systems Design. He has contributed to multiple award winning enterprise applications and entertainment media across multiple industries including edtech, gaming, robotics, publishing and supply-chain management. Keenan has architected and designed multiple language models and complex interactive, multi-modal platforms. He is a veteran of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). Keenan is particularly skilled in helping teams solve complex interdisciplinary problems through dialogue and collaborative architecture. Keenan’s life mission is to improve everyone’s overall quality of life by making technology more useful and human.

Hanna is an experienced Product Designer with a strong focus on creating user-centred web and mobile experiences. She combines intuitive design thinking with evidence-based decision-making to solve complex problems and build products that truly work for people. Hanna is passionate about turning insights into elegant, functional interfaces, and she enjoys collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to bring ideas to life.
